Who Are We?

Mission, Vision and Core Values

In line with our commitment to building a successful church, we prioritize our mission, vision, and core values. Our mission is to spread the message of Jesus and make disciples of all nations. Our vision is to create a community of believers who are passionately pursuing God, loving one another, and impacting the world around us. Our core values include being Jesus-centered, grounded in sound doctrine, and living out our faith with authenticity and integrity.

Community

At Ascend Church, we believe in and actively promote a sense of unity, valuing and encouraging togetherness, harmony, and cooperation within our community. We celebrate the diversity of individuals while focusing on shared goals, values, and beliefs. Our aim is to create a sense of belonging and acceptance among believers, recognizing that each person brings unique gifts, talents, and perspectives to contribute to the community. We recognize that we are all part of the body of Christ, with different roles and functions, but united in our faith and purpose. By embracing unity within our church community, we can demonstrate the transformative power of Christ’s love and show the world what is possible through Him.

Who is Jesus?

Savior: Jesus is the Son of God who came to Earth to save humanity from sin and reconcile them with God. Through his death on the cross and resurrection, he offers forgiveness and eternal life to those who believe in him.

Example and Teacher: Jesus is the perfect example of how to live a righteous and loving life. His teachings, such as the Sermon on the Mount, provide guidance on how to follow God’s will and live in harmony with others.

Mediator and Intercessor: Jesus is the mediator between God and humanity, bridging the gap caused by sin. Through faith in Jesus, we can have direct access to God and receive his grace and forgiveness.

Messiah: Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah prophesied in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament). He fulfilled numerous prophecies, demonstrating his divine purpose and fulfilling God’s plan of salvation.

Son of God: Jesus is the unique, divine Son of God. His title as the Son of God signifies his special relationship with God the Father, and his role as the bridge between humanity and God.

Overall, Jesus is the central figure in Christianity, embodying God’s love, sacrifice, and the hope of salvation for believers. His life, teachings, death, and resurrection are foundational to our faith and serve as the basis for understanding God’s plan for humanity.

The Steps to Achieve Salvation

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
Recognize the need for salvation: Acknowledge that all humans are inherently sinful and separated from God. Understand that sin creates a barrier between humanity and God, and that this separation needs to be reconciled.
Repentance: Repentance is the act of acknowledging one’s sins, feeling genuine remorse for them, and turning away from a life of sin. It involves confessing one’s sins to God and seeking forgiveness.
Faith in Jesus Christ: Place faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior. Believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection provide the way for salvation. Trust in his redemptive work and accept him as Lord and Savior.
Romans 10:9 (NIV): “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

This verse emphasizes the importance of confessing faith in Jesus as Lord and believing in his resurrection as a means of salvation.

Accepting God’s grace and forgiveness: Understand that salvation is a gift from God, not something that can be earned through good works or personal merit. Accept God’s grace and forgiveness, recognizing that it is through his love and mercy that salvation is possible.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV) “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

This verse emphasizes that salvation is not something that can be earned through personal efforts or good works, but it is a gift freely given by God’s grace. It underscores the belief that salvation is a result of God’s unmerited favor and love, rather than human achievement

Baptism: Baptism a symbolic act of cleansing and purification. It represents a person’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through baptism, individuals publicly declare their faith in Jesus and their desire to follow him.
Galatians 3:27 (NIV): “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

This verse emphasizes that when believers undergo baptism, we are united with Christ and become part of his body.

Living a transformed life: Salvation is not just a one-time event but a lifelong process of transformation. Seek to live a life that reflects the teachings of Jesus, guided by the Holy Spirit. This involves growing in faith, practicing love, serving others, and striving to live according to God’s will.
Colossians 3:10 – “and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”

This verse emphasizes the that believers, after putting on the new self through our salvation, are continuously being renewed and transformed through knowledge. This knowledge refers to gaining a deeper understanding of God and His ways, which leads to becoming more like Him in character and behavior. It highlights the ongoing process of growth and transformation in the life of a believer as we strive to align ourselves with the image of their Creator
